Day 2: Linear Functions Review

Hi this is Jessie Gamis and I'm here to talk about what we did in class today. In Pre-Cal class we started off with fractions. We did a worksheet on adding, subtracting, dividing and multiplying them. Just to see where we were at with fractions.

ex. 1/4 * 2/3 = 2/12 = 1/6

Next we reviewed Linear Functions. A function must follow the vertical line test. For each "x" there is only one "y". We used different forms of equations to answer questions such as: General Form, Slope-Intercept Form, and Point-Slope Form. We applied them to written questions and questions that involved graphing.

ex. Find the linear equation, in general form for the line through (o,3) with a slope of 2/3
y = mx + b
y-intercept = 3
m = 2/3
y = 2/3 + 3
y - y = 2/3x -y + 3 -> 0 = 2/3x - y + 3
3 (2/3x - y + 3 = 0)
2x - 3y + 9 = 0
